Exponential generalized root model
Model Families AIMech:ExponentialGeneralizedRootModel DRAFT
Aliases: Exponential GRM
A generalized root probability model on nonnegative continuous variables with exponential base measure and symmetric root-product interactions, restricted to parameters with a finite joint integral; uniform negative degree-one terms provide a sufficient normalizable regime.
Identity Notes & Concept Scope
Exponential GRM uses Lebesgue measure with T=x and B=0. It extends exponential SQR to higher-order root products and differs from Poisson GRM by support and absence of factorial weights. The name describes its base construction, not a claim that every node conditional is an ordinary exponential law or that it is a temporal waiting-time process. No normalized identity match was found across all 442 pinned AIO labels and all scoped synonyms and 412 preceding native IDs, names and aliases. Full-checkout fixed-string searches included ignored and hidden files in worktree and main, yielding four and zero matched lines; all three unique contents were read and refer to the prior GRM frontier or publication URL, not existing records. Search preparation occurred before the preceding SQR merge; those three inspected record bytes are unchanged. The provisional bare GRM acronym was checked in normalized identities but omitted from broad text searches; because web results expose unrelated acronym meanings, it is not asserted as an alias. All 186 semantic label/synonym hits were read. Forty-six fully annotated exact CLASS nodes and outgoing edges were byte-verified against prior inspected nodes. Sixty-seven full contextual YAMLs comprise 46 generated and 21 native records: 64 were byte-verified after prior full reading and three SQR records were fully read again. Absence is bounded to the pinned snapshot, maintained corpus and inspected semantic neighborhood.

For x_i>=0 under product Lebesgue measure, set H(x)=sum_j sum_(ell<=j) <Psi_j^ell,(x^(1/j))^(tensor ell)> with finite real super-symmetric tensors zero on repeated indices, and p(x)=exp(H(x))/Z for 0<Z<infinity. Let L(x)=sum_j <Psi_j^j,(x^(1/j))^(tensor j)> collect the degree-one terms. If L(v)<0 for every v>=0 with sum_i v_i=1, continuity on this compact simplex yields L(x)<=-c*sum_i x_i for some c>0. Each remaining term has degree r=ell/j<1 and is bounded in magnitude by a constant times (sum_i x_i)^r. Their finite sum is at most epsilon*sum_i x_i+C for any epsilon>0 with a suitable finite C. Choosing epsilon<c gives an integrable product-exponential envelope. This is a sufficient strict regime, not a complete characterization: with only negative unary square-root terms the degree-one part vanishes but the joint integral is product_i 2/b_i^2 for b_i<0. The site conditional has kernel exp[sum_j eta_js*t^(1/j)] on t>=0. Only negative linear unary terms remaining gives independent exponentials of rates -Psi_1^1[i]; k=2 recovers exponential SQR.
⚠️ Curated Limitations & Negative Results
- Strict negativity on the full nonnegative unit simplex includes its boundary and gives uniform decay. It is sufficient, not necessary. Flat-leading directions require lower-degree analysis; no exhaustive multivariate boundary classification is claimed.
- Individual full-conditional normalizability does not alone guarantee a normalizable joint law. Changing roots as coordinates also changes the measure through a Jacobian.
- The Poisson word-count experiments do not empirically validate a higher-order exponential GRM. No fitted continuous-data example or author implementation was reproduced in this curation.
- Tensors are super-symmetric and zero on repeated indices. Full ordered-index contraction counts a distinct unordered ell-variable term ell! times; coefficients must be translated consistently when switching to once-counted clique notation. Separately fitted node regressions do not automatically agree on compatible joint tensors.
- The general family includes all 1<=ell<=j<=k terms. The paper’s strongest-interaction subfamily retains only ell=j and omits lower-degree terms; its experiments do not evaluate every member of the general family. Nonzero higher-order interactions do not require nonzero lower-order interactions.
- Base-family naming does not make all full conditionals or marginals ordinary Poisson or exponential laws. An interaction coefficient is not a universal marginal-correlation or causal-effect measure.
- For T=x, the printed radial expression omits the z^(p-1) Jacobian needed for a continuous L1-radius law under x=z*v. A bounded directional domain also does not alone establish integrability from pointwise finite ray integrals. Count directions require their own discrete measure. Direct joint domination is used for the Poisson and strict exponential regimes.
- The numerical section requires qualification: after Equation (15), E[x^a] must use exp(M(a)-M(0)), not the printed subtraction of M(1). The first row of Equation (14) requires exponent 1/j+1 for covariance with x, not the printed 1/j+1/2. Linear bounds must retain the base log measure B; inclusive count-interval probabilities need F(b)-F(a-1), and zero atoms need explicit handling. These are curator checks of displayed expressions, not a reproduced implementation defect or an author-issued correction.
- Nodewise l1 fitting, approximate conditional normalizers and Newton-like updates are estimation procedures separate from the model definition. A fixed number of approximation intervals gives no universal accuracy guarantee. No author code, empirical fit, optimizer benchmark or graph-recovery experiment was reproduced.
- The reported k=3 Poisson word-count examples rank weighted tuples from Classic3 abstracts and sampled Grolier articles. They are qualitative context, not evidence of held-out prediction, causal discovery or universal graph recovery. The proposed low-rank and staged parameter reductions are not established evaluated variants in this source.
