Baijiu Pit Mud Hexanoic Acid SynCom G4

An ethanol-fed, hexanoic-acid-producing synthetic community constructed from Chinese baijiu fermentation pit mud using a top-down strategy. The G4 SynCom was dominated by Clostridium sensu stricto 12, described as primarily Clostridium kluyveri with an 86% value, with Clostridium sensu stricto 18 and Pseudoclavibacter also reported among dominant prokaryotes. Functional predictions and fermentation profiling suggested a potential association between G4 hexanoic acid production and reverse beta-oxidation; under optimized pH 7.9, 37.6 C, 8.2% inoculum, and 77% loading-volume conditions, SynCom G4 reached 4.69 g/L hexanoic acid.

KNOWLEDGE_GAP OPEN Which exact NCBITaxon-resolvable organism or sequence variant corresponds to the dominant Clostridium sensu stricto 18 signal in the G4 hexanoic-acid SynCom?

The PubMed abstract names Clostridium sensu stricto 18 as a dominant G4 taxon, but OAK/OLS did not resolve that SILVA-style lineage as an NCBITaxon label on 2026-09-13. The full text, supplements, or deposited amplicon sequence table are needed before that lineage can be grounded without over-broadly mapping it to NCBI Clostridium.

KNOWLEDGE_GAP OPEN What full medium composition, enrichment transfers, and vessel geometry produced G4 from Chinese baijiu pit mud?

The PubMed abstract gives the ethanol-based source, the top-down strategy, the optimized pH, temperature, inoculum and loading volume, and the final hexanoic acid yield, but not enough method-level detail to curate a growth_media or cultivation_setup block.
