Shrimp Vibrio-Resistance Gut-Enrichment SynCom Panel

A four-SynCom panel constructed from shrimp gut bacterial enrichment cultures screened for resistance to Vibrio parahaemolyticus infection. Shen et al. enriched gut consortia in R2A plus kanamycin, R2A, and Gauze's Synthetic Medium No.1, isolated eight corresponding key bacterial strains from enriched genera, and assembled SynComAll, SynCom R2A+Kan, SynCom R2A, and SynCom GM1; addition of these SynComs improved shrimp fitness and conferred protection against V. parahaemolyticus infection.

Ecological Interactions

The graph shows only explicitly linked interaction participants. Community members without an asserted participant link are omitted; membership alone does not imply an interaction.

Shrimp protection against Vibrio parahaemolyticus infection

The SynCom panel improved shrimp fitness and conferred protection against V. parahaemolyticus infection. Because the accessible abstract reports the response at whole-SynCom level, this is represented as a community-level host-protection phenotype rather than a genus-to-pathogen antagonism edge.

Evidence

  • "Addition of these SynComs not only improved shrimp fitness but also conferred protection against V. parahaemolyticus infection."

Knowledge gaps & discussions (1)

KNOWLEDGE_GAP OPEN Resolve the exact isolate names, species identities, strain accessions, SynCom mixing ratios, kanamycin concentration, and shrimp challenge protocol for the four SynCom variants.

The accessible abstract names the eight genera, three enrichment media, four SynCom variants, and Vibrio-protection endpoint, but it does not provide species or strain identifiers, medium recipes, member ratios, or shrimp infection timing. Those details need the version of record before they can be curated without false precision.
