calcium carbonate
Place in the base of each vessel before adding soil and water.
2 Air-dried sieved calcareous soil variable VARIABLE Add a layer approximately 1 cm deep to each vessel.
3 Deionized water variable VARIABLE Add carefully to a depth of 7-10 cm above the soil layer.

Preparation

  1. Place approximately 0.01 g calcium carbonate in the base of each vessel.
  2. Place a 1 cm layer of air-dried, sieved calcareous soil in each vessel.
  3. Optionally add one grain for organisms that benefit from it.
  4. Add deionized water carefully to a depth of 7-10 cm, then plug or cover.
  5. Autoclave at 15 psi for 15 minutes on each of two consecutive days.
  6. Let stand for at least one further day before inoculation.

Target organisms

No target organisms are recorded.
