quinate degradation II

MetaCyc:PWY-6416

The MetaCyc 27.0 quinate degradation II definition converts L-quinate through 3-dehydroquinate and 3-dehydroshikimate to protocatechuate. Its first reaction retains the native NAD(P) and NAD(P)H classes. Individual enzyme evidence distinguishes NAD preference, assay constructs, native assemblies and species or strain scope. This three-step route is separate from the PQQ-dependent quinate degradation I and the two-step shikimate degradation routes. The separately displayed NAD-specific reaction is a molecular realization of the first step, not an additional sequential fourth step.

UniProtKB:P11638
activates

Qa1F positive qa2 transcriptional control; genomic identity independently grounded. Broad cluster evidence, not specific new protein-binding assay.

Neurospora crassa Qa1S
UniProtKB:P11637
inhibits

Qa1S repression of qa2 expression supported by deletion phenotype; abstract-level primary corroboration, no direct binding claim.
