GET complex
An endoplasmic reticulum protein-containing complex that is conserved in eukaryotes and mediates the insertion of tail-anchored proteins into the ER membrane. [GO:0043529]
Taxonomic distribution
NCBITaxon:4932Saccharomyces cerevisiae — COMMON: Budding yeast contains the GET complex, with Get3 coupling tail-anchored substrates to the Get1/Get2 ER receptor during ER-membrane insertion. [DOI:10.1016/j.cell.2008.06.025]
Canonical examples
NCBITaxon:4932Saccharomyces cerevisiae — Budding-yeast model in which Get3 recognition of secretory-pathway tail anchors, Get1/Get2 receptor recruitment to the ER, and direct Get-mediated insertion were connected experimentally. [DOI:10.1016/j.cell.2008.06.025]

Discussions
- CURATION_TODO (OPEN): Resolve exact source-neutral GET subunit groundings and the boundary between the Get1/Get2 receptor, the Get3 targeting factor, and upstream pretargeting factors before adding component rows. GO exactly grounds the GET complex and names yeast Get1p, Get2p and Get3p in its definition, but exact source-neutral families and the membership boundary for cytosolic pretargeting factors were not curated in this pass.
