Functions
- nucleoplasmic NPC organization platform — Mlp1/Mlp2 nuclear-basket filaments organize a nucleoplasmic NPC platform coupled to mRNA export, NPC positioning, chromatin organization, and nuclear-envelope morphology.
DOI:10.1091/mbc.E13-07-0412Niepel et al. 2013 connected Mlp1/Mlp2 basket filaments to mRNP docking, NPC positioning, nuclear stability, and nuclear-envelope morphology.

Discussions
- CURATION_TODO (OPEN): Resolve which Nup60, Nup1, Nup2, and Pml39 basket Nups should be curated as nuclear-basket constituents, and which TREX-2, Ulp1, mRNA-export, SUMO-regulation, or chromatin factors should remain associated machinery. Recent yeast work places Nup60 and Pml39 in basket anchoring and stoichiometry, and additional export or chromatin regulators can be recruited to the basket. This first record models only the unambiguous coiled-coil Mlp1/Mlp2 basket filaments until basket-Nup and recruited-factor boundaries are reviewed explicitly.
