Functions
- 90S preribosome assembly
GO:0034463— The t-UTP complex forms a subcomplex of the 90S preribosome and acts as an essential early assembly subunit for later recruitment of other 90S-preribosome modules.GO:0034455GO:0034455 defines t-UTP as a subcomplex required for subsequent assembly of the rest of the 90S preribosome.GO:0034463GO:0034463 is the Gene Ontology biological-process term for 90S preribosome assembly.DOI:10.1128/MCB.00380-07Perez-Fernandez et al. 2007 reported that t-UTP assembly is an essential step for engagement of additional 90S subunits on the 35S pre-rRNA.
Mechanism graphs
t-UTP acts as an early 90S preribosome assembly module (ASSEMBLY)
In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the seven-protein t-UTP complex forms a subcomplex of the 90S preribosome and acts early in the hierarchical assembly pathway.

Discussions
- CURATION_TODO (OPEN): Resolve exact source-neutral family groundings for the Utp5, Utp4, Nan1, Utp8, Utp9, Utp10 and Utp15 constituents of the t-UTP complex. GO:0034455 uses Saccharomyces gene-product names while noting that analogous complexes in other eukaryotes can use the term. Exact cross-eukaryotic InterPro, Pfam, NCBIfam or UniProt family boundaries for the seven t-UTP proteins need narrower follow-up curation before these component labels can be grounded.
