TORC2 complex
A protein complex that contains at least TOR (target of rapamycin) and Rictor (rapamycin-insensitive companion of TOR), or orthologs of, in complex with other signaling components. Mediates the phosphorylation and activation of PKB (also called AKT). In Saccharomyces, the complex contains Avo1p, Avo2p, Tsc11p, Lst8p, Bit61p, Slm1p, Slm2p, and Tor2p. [GO:0031932]
Synonyms: TORC2; TOR complex 2; TORC 2 complex; rapamycin and nutrient-insensitive TOR complex

Discussions
- CURATION_TODO (OPEN): Resolve exact source-neutral InterPro, Pfam, or NCBIfam groundings for the yeast TORC2 Tor2, Avo1, Avo2, Tsc11/Avo3, Lst8, Bit61, Slm1 and Slm2 subunit classes. This first TORC2 record names the yeast protein constituents but leaves family grounding unset until exact source-neutral boundaries for shared TOR/Lst8 classes and TORC2-specific classes are reviewed.
- CURATION_TODO (RESOLVED): Keep TORC1-specific Kog1, Tco89 and Tor1 outside this TORC2 record. GO separates rapamycin-sensitive TORC1 from TORC2 as sibling complexes. Tor2 and Lst8 can occur in both yeast TOR complexes, but Kog1, Tco89 and Tor1 are outside GO:0031932.
