Each upstream vocabulary's own account of this habitat. Assertion
counts are per-source units and are not comparable across sources —
GOLD counts organisms, BacDive strains, PREGO taxa.

GROUND_AS_PARENT2026-08-16 · claude-opus-5
BTO:0000316 'culture medium' attached as a parent, not adopted as the identity (NARROW). Non-habitat screen (#12): the last record inheriting FOODON:03411301 'algae' as a parent. It reached it through the ambiguous-leaf rule — a second GOLD path ending in 'Algae' keeps a minted id with the matched term as a parent — and survived ungrounding the host-associated Algae node. An algal culture medium is not a KIND of algae, which is what parent_habitats asserts, so the organism term goes and BTO:0000316 'culture medium' takes its place: the path is Engineered > Lab culture > Culture media > Algae, and a medium for growing algae is a culture medium.
