Curation

What a curator decided about this record, and why. A record built from several source concepts can carry one decision per concept.

  1. GROUND_AS_PARENT 2026-08-16 · claude-opus-5

BTO:0000863 'midgut' attached as a parent, not adopted as the identity (NARROW). CLOSE-grounding review (#12): the seeder grounded 'Arthropoda: Insects > Digestive system > Midgut > Hepatic caecum' to UBERON:0012474 'hepatic cecum', whose definition is 'a ventral evagination extending anteriorly in the mid-portion of the intestine in Amphioxi' — a cephalochordate structure, not an insect one. BTO:0002855 carries the same Amphioxus definition, so neither ontology has the insect caecum. Attached to BTO:0000863 'midgut' instead, which is both the correct broader structure and the path's own parent step. (source concept habitatmech:GOLD.d89135723c)
