However, no AHL was detected in the culture supernatant of SCG1 cocultured with either COT1 or B1, which produce AHL-lactonase.

Dong et al. 2004, PMID:14766576, PMC348924, first Results subsection. Introduction explicitly calls signal interference quorum quenching. Scientific Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results and early Discussion read; actual Figure 1 and Tables 1/2 inspected. Other actual figures unread. COT1/B1 cocultures support AHL loss with comparable growth in this setting, not universal growth neutrality. Table 2 retains residual protection after aiiA disruption. B23 is plasmidless; SCG1-GFP is engineered. COT1 species assignment partly uses an unshown crystal-protein observation. EXT_ID:14766576 AND SRC:MED confirmed ID, title and DOI on 2026-10-11. Native resolver: NOT_IN_ABSTRACT; quotation separately matched directly retrieved PMC full text.

Here we report identification of more than 20 bacterial isolates capable of enzymatic inactivation of AHLs from different sources.

Dong et al. 2002, PMID:11916693, PMC123891, scientific Abstract. Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results and selected Discussion read; actual Figure 2 and Table 1 inspected. Other actual figures unread. Whole-cell OHHL inactivation and live-versus-boiled controls support activity, not just aiiA sequence homology. Activity units use culture OD600, not molecular turnover. Restricted isolate sampling does not establish universal species activity. Plasmidless derivatives and recombinant E. coli are not unqualified natural exemplars. Authors overlap the 2004 study, not independent-laboratory replication. EXT_ID:11916693 AND SRC:MED confirmed ID, title and DOI on 2026-10-11; native resolver VERIFIED, also matched directly retrieved scientific Abstract.

clinical isolates of different coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) species residing on normal skin produced autoinducing peptides that inhibited the S. aureus agr system

Williams et al. 2019, PMID:31043573, PMC7106486, scientific Abstract. Direct PMC Abstract, Results S4-S6, Methods S9-S11/S18 and actual Figures 2-4 with captions inspected. Other actual figures unread. Natural isolate supernatants and live S. hominis C5 support non-AHL interference. Figure 4 separates culture-product identification from synthetic-peptide assays; synthetic potency is not a whole-cell threshold. Figure 2A shows modest type-II/III effects despite prose describing little effect. Growth controls are condition-specific; nonsignificance is not equivalence. Supplement returned HTML, not PDF; supplemental figures and Table S1 unread. EXT_ID:31043573 AND SRC:MED confirmed ID, title and DOI on 2026-10-11; native resolver VERIFIED, also matched directly retrieved scientific Abstract. A separate author group and mechanism, not direct replication of the Bacillus experiments.

This is the microbial interference capability, not its enzyme, peptide, sequence feature, molecular function or treated target's loss of sensing. Positive quorum sensing traitmech:000084 is not a parent; a microorganism can both sense and quench, so organism-level disjointness is not asserted. The existing AiiA and inhibitor nodes there denote a protein and a chemical, not unresolved exact trait nodes. Reduced reporter output from toxicity or impaired growth alone is insufficient. Signal inactivation and inhibitory products are demonstrated routes, not an exhaustive mechanism restriction. No requirement for AHL, aiiA, interspecies interaction, growth neutrality, fitness benefit or disease prevention is imposed. No exact synonym or external phenotype equivalence is asserted pending authority review; molecular-function terms are not phenotype xrefs.

No canonical examples are assigned until taxonomic authorities and exact strain provenance are reconciled, including laboratory derivatives and the unread 2019 strain supplement. Preserve native coculture and supernatant evidence apart from isolated enzymes, recombinant hosts and synthetic peptides. AHL hydrolysis and agr interference need separate, source-bounded graphs; reporter inhibition alone does not establish receptor binding. Protein edges require functional evidence and taxon-paired accessions, not sequence homology alone. Mechanism is deferred, not claimed absent.

Added traitmech:000694 as a PROPOSED PHYSIOLOGY CLASS under METPO:1000059 through the guarded validated writer. DOI:10.1128/AEM.70.2.954-960.2004, DOI:10.1128/AEM.68.4.1754-1759.2002 and DOI:10.1126/scitranslmed.aat8329 support signal interference; each has a directly matched contiguous snippet. Qualified MED metadata confirmed source, PMID, title and DOI. Native resolver verdicts are NOT_IN_ABSTRACT for the manually checked 2004 Results quote and VERIFIED for the two scientific-abstract quotes. Record notes delimit reading coverage, experimental conditions, derivatives, synthetic-peptide assays and the unread 2019 supplement. No canonical examples, synonyms, xrefs or graph are asserted; two OPEN discussions retain gaps. Quorum-sensing protein and chemical nodes are not retyped as phenotype nodes. Ignored-and-hidden searches covered all 22 pre-existing worktrees, CommunityMech and all five open PR heads including draft 924; no exact trait or conflicting reservation was found. METPO, current seed projection and prior release-review dispositions were inspected. Reserve v570 and METPO:1064700-1064799, with only 1064700 populated. Writer dry run and 20 focused tests passed; full validation and immutable review follow. Existing records including protected spore germination remain unchanged. No paid research was used.
